I was dispatched for a suspect reportedly assaulting his neighbor in the driveway of a vacant house. This suspect was known by the department due to many past alcohol and domestic violence related incidents. I had personally arrested this suspect twice on prior cases.
I was out on patrol with my K-9 partner when I was dispatched to a burglary in progress. The dispatcher noted that the reporting party was the next-door neighbor who was watching the house. Upon arrival, I entered the house with my K-9 through the front door that was ajar.
I stopped and arrested a staggering drunk in a parking lot. As I searched him, he leaned up against and partly over the hood of my car. He also kept squirming, so I had a hard time with the search, especially around the crotch. I thought, “Whatever.”
I work at an agency that borders another state. We have a major interstate highway that runs north/south through the middle of our jurisdiction. One night last June, I was driving down the interstate looking for traffic violations, and I observed a white mid-2000’s Chevy vehicle in front of me going 5 MPH below the posted speed limit.
A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on a minivan occupied by a male driver and a female passenger. As the officer reached the back of the minivan, the female passenger exited the vehicle from the front passenger seat.
An officer was dispatched to a break-in that had already occurred. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the complainant and homeowner and asked if the homeowner had already cleared the house. The homeowner said yes.
At approximately 0330, two officers were on the scene of a single-vehicle accident on the right side of a highway interchange. While the officers and a Good Samaritan were assisting the involved motorists, one of the officers standing in front of a patrol vehicle noticed a pickup truck heading towards them.
A state trooper was responding with emergency lights activated to a motor vehicle collision on a major interstate highway. Road conditions were poor with ice and heavy snow (white-out conditions).
I showed up for my “routine” off-duty security shift at a major hardware store. I say routine because I had done this type of shift several times before, but we all know what happens when we let things become just routine.
Officers were responding code to assist other officers with an armed subject. Two police vehicles entered a controlled intersection at a high rate of speed, one against the red traffic signal.
