Check and Double Check

A call for service was received about a domestic disturbance with allegations that the known suspect had pointed a gun at the caller during a verbal altercation. The caller then fled to a nearby gas station and contacted police.

Suspect Opens Fire on Officers Serving Arrest Warrant

Police received an anonymous tip that a suspect wanted for attempted murder (he allegedly shot a female) was inside of a motel-style apartment. Officers from two agencies met and formed a perimeter around the apartment, which was located on the ground floor. Officers contacted a female subject sitting outside of the apartment and asked her if the suspect was inside.

Take Full Advantage of Time before Going Hands-On

My partner and I were dispatched for a domestic complaint where a husband had physically assaulted his wife. My partner and I had been working a two-person car for about two years. We arrived on scene and met the wife outside of their apartment. She said her husband was inside, had been drinking, and had physically assaulted her.

Biker Bar Booking Gone Bad

On an October evening at approximately 2030 hours, several units were dispatched to a biker bar for a fight in progress, weapons involved. We were advised by the watch commander to stage at a location near the bar to assess the real nature of the call and confirm, as best as possible, the number and nature of weapons involved prior to responding to the scene. Fights at the bar were not uncommon, but we were rarely called.

Warm Breaths on a Frozen Night

The night was chilly, maybe high 20s. I had been on shift for about three hours at the time of the incident. My eight-officer patrol team was manned by newer officers with a high drive. Officer safety was more of an idea we knew existed somewhere else.

Armed EDP Subject High on Drugs in Apartment

The call was initially dispatched as a Burglary In Progress. The resident of an apartment called 911 reporting that several males had broken into his apartment. The caller sounded emotionally disturbed (like an EDP) to the call-taker, and no one else could be heard in the background.

Suspicious Person Shoots at Deputy during Field Interview

At approximately 2245, a sheriff’s deputy was on patrol in a rural section of the county when she noticed a car pulled to the side of the road with a single occupant in the driver’s seat. With a recent influx of stolen cars and alarm calls in the area, the deputy wanted to check on the driver to make sure the driver wasn’t a wanted individual or a stranded motorist needing help.
