While on midnight shift patrol with my regular partner, I conducted a traffic stop in an urban area on a vehicle driving w/out headlights at night. As soon as I walked up to the vehicle, I noticed about 1/2 an ounce of marijuana in plain view on the dashboard, which was seized.
I was working at the county fair when I was flagged down by a concerned citizen. She stated there was an intoxicated male sitting on the back of my patrol unit and gave me a description. I went into the parking area and saw a white male sitting on my patrol unit.
An off-duty officer working security at a housing complex spotted a disorderly suspect who was wanted for threatening residents with a handgun, as well as an outstanding bench warrant. Upon seeing the officer, the suspect immediately fled on foot.
I observed a suspicious vehicle driving slowly through several alleys. I followed the vehicle briefly and obtained PC for a traffic stop. I approached and spoke with a single white male driver. He gave me his DL and insurance. He seemed extremely nervous.
At 0445, one of my patrol officers was on patrol in a supermarket parking lot and noticed a vehicle backed up near one of the doors with a subject inside the vehicle screaming and acting very agitated. The officer called it into dispatch, and I responded to the call.
Two of my partners were riding two-man one night and stopped a car for a brake light violation. When they walked up to the car, they smelled the odor of marijuana and had the occupants exit the vehicle while they performed a search. The officers keyed up on the radio saying they had 5 detained.
I was dispatched to a call regarding a subject who was acting strange. The caller stated the subject was standing in his backyard and the subject’s dog was on the caller’s boat. The caller’s residence backed up to a lake. The caller stated the subject approached the caller’s rear sliding door and said someone was chasing him.
Transit police officers responded to a call for a male subject reportedly harassing a woman at a downtown bus stop. Officers contacted the subject and noted he was obviously drunk. The officers conducted a pat-down of the subject and found an open bottle of liquor on his person.
I was conducting a night time traffic stop on the right shoulder of a major divided highway in my jurisdiction. As I prepared to exit my patrol vehicle after finishing the citation, I checked my mirror quickly to make sure there were no cars approaching in the lane next to me (the right lane).
During the early morning hours, a veteran officer experienced an accidental discharge of a Glock 35 handgun. The incident occurred while the officer was conducting a function test of his weapon-mounted light.
