I was a rookie a few weeks into field training when a call came out on the radio – one of our deputies was in a vehicle pursuit of a male subject, possibly armed. My FTO and I were one of the closest units; however, we were separated from our colleague by a set of railroad tracks and a long road with a few cross streets, meaning we had to overshoot his location and then double back to get to him, making it all the more stressful.

A patrol officer was working an evening DWI enhanced enforcement program. The officer was positioned to observe an intersection when a pickup truck stopped and then accelerated away, reaching an excessive speed. The officer attempted to catch the white truck, but was unable to do so.

Patrol officers spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle used in two earlier armed robberies in a nearby jurisdiction. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled. The two officers pursued the vehicle, with speeds reaching 90mph on city roads.

Good Samaritans Rescue State Trooper Under Attack

A state trooper was on patrol on a state highway when he observed a motorcyclist driving 92mph. The trooper caught up with the motorcycle and activated his emergency lights. The driver pulled onto the shoulder and slowed down, but then accelerated at a high rate of speed.

Officer Attempts to Deploy Spike Strips on Three-Lane Interstate

A pursuit of a stolen car was traveling N/B on the local interstate. An officer ahead of the pursuit stopped on the inside shoulder, preparing to deploy spike strips as the pursuit neared their location. The suspect, from a distance, observed the officer on the inside shoulder and intentionally steered/veered to the right in an attempt to avoid the spikes.

Stop Stick Malfunction During Vehicular Pursuit of Shooting Suspect

At 0100 HRS, dispatch aired a vehicular pursuit following a shooting that had just occurred in the area. The pursuit was heading onto a nearby highway at approximately 100 plus mph. I was able to get into the area of [the interstate] and drove southbound down the northbound off-ramp to get into position. I grabbed the Stop Sticks from the trunk of my patrol car as the pursuit was quickly approaching.

Felony Armed Robbery Pursuit Leads to Ravine Crash

Officers assisted with apprehension of subjects involved in an armed robbery . I heard a radio broadcast from a nearby police department that they were trying to catch up to a SUV which was “blowing” several stoplights. Dispatch responded stating that the vehicle was a suspect vehicle in an armed robbery. Pursuing Police stated they were northbound on [a major highway] and asked if officers from my department could help stop the vehicle. I proceeded to the area and offered to use “Stop Stix” on the vehicle.

Collision during Misdemeanor Pursuit in Icy Conditions

Patrol officer was pursuing a vehicle to apprehend the driver, who was wanted for a misdemeanor warrant. The weather conditions were poor and the street surface was covered by snow and ice. The suspect vehicle crossed a major intersection with the officer close behind.
