Nearly Shot Investigating Burglary Alarm

Police responded to a burglary alarm at a private residence. Upon arrival, the officer checked the property. A male came to the door and told him the alarm was tripped. When the officer asked him for ID showing proof of residency, the male retreated into the house. A woman then came to the door showing ID. The officer sensed something wasn’t right, and he inquired if everything was OK.

Crossfire Situation During Officer Involved Shooting

Officers responded to a robbery in progress at a drug store. When the officers entered the building, they observed the store staff hiding behind the counters. The officers began to surround the store and establish a perimeter. As the officers in the store approached the rear of the store, the two armed offenders exited through a drive through window.

Foot Pursuit with Low-Battery Radio and Inoperable OC Spray

Officer on patrol observed two individuals in an enclosed walkway (Tunnel). One subject started to take out of his pockets numerous cell phones, prescription bottles, and a collapsible baton (Asp). When the officer approached the subject, the subject started to pick up all of the items, shoving them into his pockets. The subject then ran into busy afternoon traffic and crossed three lanes, almost being struck and causing motor vehicles to swerve in order to avoid striking him.

Subject Pulls Gun During Warrant Service in Motel Parking Lot

During an attempt to serve an arrest warrant at a residential motel, two plain-clothes officers attempted contact of the person named in the warrant at a motel room. The officers were walking through the motel parking lot when a car containing two men drove by them and parked. The passenger fit the description of the person named in the warrant. Both officers approached the passenger side of the car as it was parking.

DUI Suspect – Street Fight

A patrol officer responded to a report of a drunk driver involved in a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer observed several people attacking the driver of the vehicle.

Unsafe Arrest Tactics after Noise Complaint

In the nighttime hours, an officer was dispatched to a house for a complaint of loud music. (This particular house, known to be a stripper’s house, had a history of noise complaints). When the officer knocks on the door of the house, a repeat offender opens the door and begins cussing at the officer.

Officer Killed, Ensuing Manhunt with Ill-Established Command and Control

[City Police] observed a subject wanted for the murder of a police officer and other serious crimes. Multiple agencies converged on the area, and the suspect opened fire on responding officers.

Stop Stick Malfunction During Vehicular Pursuit of Shooting Suspect

At 0100 HRS, dispatch aired a vehicular pursuit following a shooting that had just occurred in the area. The pursuit was heading onto a nearby highway at approximately 100 plus mph. I was able to get into the area of [the interstate] and drove southbound down the northbound off-ramp to get into position. I grabbed the Stop Sticks from the trunk of my patrol car as the pursuit was quickly approaching.

Homicide of U.S. Marshall during Service of Murder Warrant

Members of local law enforcement in multiple counties as well as task force members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task force were attempting to serve murder warrants on three individuals. Officers believed the suspects were inside of a boarding house, and the officers had been at the location earlier that same day attempting to locate the suspects.

Transfer of Unsearched Suspect between Agencies Leads to Suspect’s Suicide

A suspect was arrested after a foot chase and shooting a Deputy. He was arrested by a different agency and handed off to the investigating agency. During the transfer, officers on the scene failed to notify officers from the investigating agency that the suspect had not been properly searched.
