Non-Compliant Subject Drags Officers during Traffic Stop

Around 0230, an officer on patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was traveling without its headlights on. The officer utilized a driver side approach and contacted the driver. When the officer asked the driver for his driver’s license, insurance, or any form of identification, the driver replied that he did not have anything with him.

Wrong Side of the Element of Surprise

As a proactive patrol officer on the midnight shift, I routinely used pretextual stops to make DWI and drug arrests. In my assigned area, I often parked on a side street with my lights off to monitor a four-way stop intersection on a state road. Traffic was infrequent on this road during the overnight hours as it passed through several miles of residential neighborhoods.

Close Call with Vehicle while Responding through Intersection

Two officers were responding to a violent assault call for service. The lead officer was passing through an intersection against a red light and failed to clear the intersection.

Foot Pursuit and Fight with Wanted Felon

A deputy observed a male sleeping in a truck parked at a Transit Park and Ride lot. The deputy recognized the male as a felony warrant suspect and requested a second unit to come to his location. The deputy did not wait for backup, however, and opened the driver’s side door of the truck to take the male into custody.

Officers Attacked during Felony Arrest Warrant Service

Two officers from a local police department attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a known felon. As the officers made contact, the suspect and the suspect’s girlfriend assaulted the officers. The officers called for backup and fought with the two subjects.

Officer Nearly Struck while Running to Stop Fight in Progress

While directing traffic at a sporting event, officers observed a fight breaking out across a busy 5-lane road. Instinct kicked in to get to the fight and stop it. The two officers ran across the street through traffic.

Officers Find AK-47 Concealed in Suspect’s Shorts

Officers responded to a Suspicious Person call. Two subjects were observed near a vehicle at an apartment complex with all four car doors open. After contacting the subjects, it was discovered that their license plate was covered by tape, and both of the subjects had Halloween masks.

Armed Suspect Flanks Responding Officers at Convenience Store

Officers responded to a report of a robbery shooting in a residential area next to a convenience store. A citizen caller advised that two suspects had fled into the store several minutes before officers arrived. The citizen caller reported that he was also inside the store and provided his own physical description to the call taker.

Subject Attempts to Draw Concealed Handgun during Frisk

I was dispatched to a fight call in the back parking lot of an apartment complex. My zone partner arrived on scene first, made contact with the subjects, and called out the scene was Code 4 (Safe) prior to my arrival.

Concealed Scissors during Felony Warrant Arrest

I was assisting another officer who heard a woman screaming for help under a bridge where transients are known to frequent. A male and female were contacted. Both were cooperative and provided their information. Investigation revealed that no crime occurred. The male placed his hands into his front pockets as he approached me.
